HOW TO GET A FLU JAB
BOOK NOW!!! OR DROP IN!! STOCK FOR OVER 65'S LIMITED - SEE BELOW FOR MORE INFO.
Flu season is here! - the weather is changing, it's getting colder, and the chance of catching the flu virus is higher.
Whilst many people are able to brush off the flu and get better quickly, for some people; catching flu can be a risk to their health and they become very ill, which can sometimes be life threatening.
Those at greater risk of becoming very ill are; the elderly, people with life long chronic conditions such as asthma, COPD, diabetes, heart disease etc, and young children. Having more than one risk factor can increase the dangers.
The best way to prevent catching and spreading flu is to get vaccinated annually.
This year patients with asthma or respiratory disease are being even more encouraged to attend as they often decline. Having respiratory illness with flu is a serious risk.
Many patients decline the flu vaccine every year because they feel healthy. Having the vaccine not only protects you, but others around you who could be of greater risk. If you catch flu and recover quickly it's still likely you will have spread the virus to others. Together we can eliminate flu.

GP APPOINTMENT SYSTEM CHANGES
We are currently working through an exciting period of change at Fforestfach Medical Centre. Over recent years both Practices at Fforestfach Medical Centre have been affected by the GP recruitment crisis that is becoming widespread across the country, during which time we have been continually reviewing methods of working to maintain high quality care for our patients.
Many Surgeries like ours are facing a time of high demand, increased administrative workload, significant population growth and GP shortages.
You will know that we had been operating a Telephone First GP appointment service for some time up to 30th June 2018.
From 1st July 2018 we developed our system further.
We listened to the many comments and suggestions from patients, we reviewed the GP workload and impact of demand on the team. We worked together to decide how to develop our system further to best meet the needs of our patient population within the resources available to us. Follow this link for more information on our current GP Appointment Service and how to get an appointment.
For more information on the most appropriate service please refer to www.choosewellwales.org.uk
Or Who Should I See? (This is a flyer you can keep at home to refer to).
We understand that appointment systems cannot accommodate every scenario but we try our best to help. Demand for our services are extremely high. We urge you to support your GP Practice whilst we introduce changes to ensure we flourish. We would request you only visit your GP Practice when appropriate and you have already taken advice from other services such as a pharmacist, 111, and treated with self-care for minor ailments.
